Christmas in July: The Boost You Need This Summer

July 27, 2021

Who says Christmas comes only once in a year? That was the brain behind Christmas in July. Christmas in July was first celebrated at a summer camp in 1933, when Keystone Camp in Brevard, N.C. decided to dedicate two days (July 24 and 25) to the holidays.

Christmas is one of the most important holidays in the world because it’s an amazing time with family, excess food and the amazing Santa Claus. All kids look up to Christmas mostly because they love Santa and this makes Christmas one of the most sought after holiday.

Some early birds take advantage of Christmas in July sales to get a jump on their holiday gift shopping for December.

But Christmas in July may seem especially enticing right now, even without the gift-buying—especially if you missed out on celebrating the holidays together in person this past year.

We have some ideas on how to start planning for Christmas to make it an enjoyable holiday with family. Some of them include

Organize your existing stash

Before spending any additional money on Christmas decor, gifts, wrapping paper, or other essentials, take stock of your current holiday inventory.

Buy gifts during Christmas in July sales

This period, people are more likely to spend money on experiences, like a vacation, rather than products. Christmas props are relatively cheap in summer so it’s a good time to get them now.

Plan Christmas cards

If you wait to get your Christmas card family portraits taken until November or December, you just might be too late. Having photographs taken requires some forethought since you’ll have outfits to consider and locations to choose from, and booking the actual session. July might be the best to plan those cards.

Plan your Christmas meals

It’s not too early to start planning your Christmas meals, it saves you alot of time and stress so you don’t plan last minute.

Outfit Ideas For Your Christmas Shoot

Deciding what to wear for a Christmas shoot is always difficult whether in July or in December but it is always an exciting and amazing to select just the right outfit.

Here are some ideas you can try:

Show off those holiday-print PJs

Christmas shoots are lovely in holiday pajamas, they bring a unique and playful vibe to the shoot, and since it’s Christmas, it is a win for everyone. Whether they’re matching onesies or mismatched pieces, it is always lovely to wear for a Christmas shoot.

You can’t go wrong with neutral colors

Neutral colors are great ways to get a perfect shoot with family because it brings the focus on the picture to the faces of the amazing family and brings out the beauty of the shoot.

Stay within the same color palette

Adding color to your photo is a delicate balance. Too many different colors can create visual chaos. However, the perfect color mix weaved throughout your photo will add instant polish to your overall look.

Use nice accessories

Adding accessories and outerwear are great ways to complete your look, fun pieces like funky bow ties or Christmas-themed floral hair combs is also a great way of showing off your family’s personality.

Go casual

Don’t underestimate the versatility of blue jeans for your Christmas family portrait.  Try coupling them with plain white shirts, red sweaters, or green coats.

Dress as Santa

Dressing up like a Santa brings a whole different vibe and awesomeness to your shoot, it makes the kids happy and is a seamless way to enjoy your shoot.

Wear knitted sweaters

Knitted sweaters are quite homely, they bring the whole winter environment to summer and are one of the best outfits you can have in your Christmas shoot.

As we look forward to the big holiday, this is a good time to start thinking about a Christmas shoot for you and your loved ones.
